New Rule In Effect for All Racers at SIR in 2014 and Beyond

If a racer or car owner refuses tech on their car at any time or if a car is found to be illegal that car or racer is subject to a PRE-RACE inspection before being allowed to race at SIR again. We feel this will help level the playing field even more for all of our racers in all classes at SIR.

Bonus Points Announced for Big Events in 2014

Although Southern Illinois Raceway will have non-points races for each class in 2014 we will be offering bonus points for running certain big events if you are a club member running for points. The bonus points are as follows:

- Highbanks Hustle – 100 bonus points in Wing Outlaw
- Terry Sprague Memorial – 100 bonus points in Non Wing Outlaw

More bonus point opportunities could be added as more special events are added to the schedule.

POWRi to Return to the Highbanks in 2014
The POWRi Micro Sprint National Championship will come through the Highbanks of Southern Illinois Raceway in 2014 as POWRi will once be making its return to SIR on two occasions! POWRi promoter Kenny Brown will be bringing the biggest, baddest, toughest wing outlaw micro sprint series in the country to SIR for the first time since 200. POWRi boasts a purse paying $700 to win and $50 to start ($3,000 total)! Dates are currently being worked out with Kenny Brown. Support classes will be announced at a later date. This will be a non-points night for the wing outlaw.

SIR Announces Highest Paying Non Wing Race in the Country!!!
Non Wing racers have been asking for it for a while now, and SIR is going to deliver in 2014! The 7th Edition of the Annual Terry Sprague Memorial will boast a total purse of $20,375! Friday night will pay $500 to win and $50 to start which will lock the top 6 into Saturday nights $5,000 to win $250 to start A-Main!! So, micro racers get ready to pull those wings off July 31st – August 2nd for a top prize of $5,000 on the Highbanks in memory of an awesome friend, racer, and person, Terry Sprague. Non Wing will be the only class racing this weekend.

The three day format will start on Thursday July 31st with an open practice session. The cost will be $10 to get in the pits with general admission being free. Then on Friday August 1st the preliminary night will take place. Drivers will pill draw which will line up 10 lap heat races that will award passing points. Passing points will then line up 20 lap qualifiers with the top “so many” being taken straight to the 24 car, 30 lap feature event. The top 6 from Friday will be locked into the dash and front 3 rows of Saturday nights A-Main. On Saturday August 2nd, those that are not locked in will re pill draw and line up in a similar format to Friday night with the difference being there will be a 15 lap Last Chance Showdown for the first 16-18 cars out of the A-Main allowing the top 6 to transfer to the back of the A-Main. Then 24 of the best non wing drivers in the country will go at it for 40 laps and $5,000 to win, a big check, and a custom trophy by Jason Rix of Rix Enterprises!

Reserved parking will be available for $50 on a first come first serve basis. Entry fee will be $100 pre-entry (postmarked before July 11th) and $125 post entry.
